No Patience No Win

Sunday I always love sundays and poker in my  jammies.  This is the life playing a game you love in your home in your jammies sounds decadent doesn’t it.  Played again the 20,000 plus field PS for $10 + 1 figured if you played every week it was definitely a great field for learning and improving your game, trying new strategies etc.  If you only hit once in that year for good money in the top top you would have made a great cash.  So I keep on playing and trying new things, I learn alot about my opponents and take tons of notes.  You will eventually run into that player again and seeing the notes can really help especially if I am moved to a new table and am trying to see whats happening right away.

Well I ran pretty good at the beginning of the tourney and was able to play a good game my hands held up and I was able to make some moves and get some to fold hands to me when I put the pressure on the perks of accrueing a stack at the beginnning of a tourney.  But as the tourney went on my patience and focus waned.  I folded hands in position I shouldn’t have, played hands too aggressively that I shouldn’t have, and lost races that I went in with the best and didn’t hold. Gotta win some of them races to get through that kind of field.  So I played a medium game at best, but learned alot, and best of all that kind of field really trys my emotional and psychological game, lets me learn to stay on an even keel regardless of the play or players I am up against.  It is Poker and you will be up against many types of players and plays over the many tournies you are in and I believe staying even and focused is such an important factor to my game.

So I lost a little focus and patience and it led me into play that was not part of my A game and thus I  busted out way to early.

Played a couple of satellites one for the PS sunday millions next week and one for the ME qualifier both I played very well and was in contention for the seats.  Took a break to take care of a household task, I don’t usually do and returned to recoup my absence chips and went out third in one, missing the seat and busted out of the other too.  My fault don’t usually go off to do something in the latter part of my satellite but did.

Did play some micro limit NL with lots of action and picked up some money as they were throwing chips around left and right wanting to play.  There I applaud myself for being patient, not giving them a clue on what I had by mixing up my game and building a pot without chasing them out.

Horse has been a tough one for me lately I play Horse alot and usually do very well, as of late I have been taking some tough beats by calling stations, it is a calling game, but chasing to the last card to pray for a miracle is not usually the way to play.  I am taking a break for a little while from Horse and analyze my play and make some adjustments.

Played the LPS PS tournie on sunday and took second to PokerMom was a great game and had a great time Congratulations Pokermom a game well played.

Sunday PS

I was taking it easy this weekend celebrating my birthday and just indulging myself in general as was everyone else.  Which was quite delightful and made it just an absolutely fabulous birthday.  PS sunday I did it again and registered for the 20,000 plus tourney 10+1 made it deep and cashed for $29 gotta make it to the final table to get the real money but it is a huge field to get through it is great for priming yourself for those live huge fields you now have to conquer at the WSOP.  So all in all I gotta say I played well I accrued a stack and consistently kept it growing I am happy with my play and so that is good.  I played a low low buy in omaha hi lo tourney and cashed for $15 the structure makes it kind of a crap shoot at the end and what I realized is with the $3 tourneys there are alot of new players that don’t quite have the gist of the game as there learnin which throws a curve in there, I should have been playing something higher.  Played a HORSE tourney $10 buy in and just couldn’t make anything happen.  Cash sucked big time when I took a couple of hits on bad beats, outdraws, whatever ya wanna call them I was playing HORSE and being that it is a limit game it is hard when it’s call call call call all the bets and raises, it’s the weekend and you get lots of wild players wanting action.  So sunday was not my day for picking up chippies at the cash table.  But I am not complaining as I have been on the other end picking up those action players money on other days so keep on playing it’s what keeps poker interesting all the different players out there.  Great day

Cash & Tournies

Well it has been very hectic the last couple of weeks so there really hasn’t been lots of poker.  I went out early in the FT league game.  I played the huge field on PS on sunday 20,000 plus and went out early, played the PS private tournie went out early, and a couple of satellites for seats on PS and nothing seemed to come to fruition.  So I decided to play some HORSE for cash and see if I could at least even out for the day, buyins.  Well I sat down and I just seemed to be in the Zone and had a couple of people at my table that were ready to play every hand and throw around some chippies.  That was nice I played well Tripled up on both tables I was playing and made a profit for the day.  yep that was nice.

 

No Room For Mistakes

Sunday I played the $650 qualifier to the ME, 446 approx players 23 ME packages $12,500.  I won my seat into the qualifier by playing a $15 shootout.  So it was not a huge field 20min levels and some tight players at my table with one sitting out. I took some hands with  no showdowns early with a raise and all folded.  Seemed like everyone was being oh so careful at my table you could steal with a raise but no real action for the beggining.  I myself went out early when I played my AK wrong definitely wrong, the player who had been sitting out returned and called my 5X the BB raise flop came jxx I bet three fourth the pot he calls turn x I bet again three fourth the pot he calls and he’s all in on the river.  I had no information on him, why did I play this so badly????? I layed down the AK on my gut leaving myself very short stacked and wondering what hand he had.  Wow did I just play that hand bad, bad, bad, bad.  Yep I did, did I learn something yep, was I bothered yep, did I move on and play that short stack I did but did not recoup from the damage I caused myself earlier.  So that field of players took over eight hours to get down to the   that would get the ME packages, which is quite a long time for that amount of entrants and  20 min levels.  So ladies playing in that qualifier be ready it will take awhile, have your drinks, snacks etc all ready to go and the walk around the chair exercise.  I myself am onto winning another qualifier and doing it again in a better way.  I also played the 22,000 entrant $11 tourney made it to 3029 for a payout of 23.11 but did make it through the huge field and the LPS private tourney that I was able to rollercoaster up and down and finally win.

Satellite Sunday

Playing lots of satellites and step tournaments for ME Qualifiers, LAPT San Jose in May.  So I Played three step one tables and won a ticket to step two in all three, played a step one LAPT table and won a step 2 seat for LAPT, played a $3 rebuy and won a $315.00 seat for $150,000 guarantee tourney which I unregistered as I wasn’t going to be available that day and won a double shoot out $15 +1 for a $650.00 seat for the ME qualifier on PS next sunday. I played th $10 +1 22,500 entrants tourney at PS did’nt fair so well this week took a couple of bad beats and made some moves went out early and move on to satellites would really like to win my seat to the ME this year.  Had a great day really enjoyed my day of poker and played well in all the tables that I was aiming to win seats So I was thrilled

Some Days it’s Not My Day

Wednesday I am ready to play at home and see if I can win some satellites on PS.  I sign up for a 3 rebuy for the sunday Million and do okay at first as it’s a crazy slinging match the first hour but I know that and I am ready for the all in mania.  I accrue chips but take a big hit right before the break so I rebuy and addon I’ll take a shot after the break and see what I can do.  $15 invested but unfortunately I take a hit with AA I raise fold, fold allin I of course call I have him covered and he has 55 and hits a 5 on the flop.  I am now the shortstack and I don’t recover and go out in a short while.  $30 horse tourney it seemed I just was beat by the call, call, call opponents and they would go from zero to hero to beat my hands so I was outta there before the cash.  I played a double shootout for the ME qualifier and I busted out.  So there are days in Poker when no matter what you do you just don’t get the results that you want but I believe I have learned something from each day I play to improve my game and I do know there is great value in that.  So another day of playing poker and learning WOW what a blessing.

Sunday & Poker

Gotta love sundays, especially holiday sundays like this one easter sunday. I just was able to relax and totally enjoy the day and play poker at whatever hour I chose.  I played in the PS 10 + 1 huge field 20,000 and can say I busted out early my fault totally as I had Aces cracked really early on by kTo when they called a large raise by me and flopped a straight, no I made a move after the flop and of course he called but did not have me covered.  I took a big hit with AK suited when my two pairs were outflushed by another suit on the river, and the deadly ppJ’s were killed by QTo.  So I played big and went home early in the tournie, but luckily I was already home and still in my jammies.  It was a big field I went a little on tilt on one hand and it was just poker so I am totally accountable for my early demise and I know that.  I played a small entry HORSE tourney and busted out early and from there I went onto the cash tables where I was able to retrieve the cost of all my buy ins for the day and a sizable boost to my bankroll playing HORSE.

Sunday Poker

It was a very casual sunday I did sign up for the $10 +1 PS tourney 20,000 entries.  I seem to make it through the field on a pretty regular basis but not the final table yet.  I played okay and made it to the top 2400 to the money but was not focused enough, I knew I was not totally playing my best game and cashed for $20.  I need to be more focused and playing consistently next time.

Back on the Horse

It’s been truly hectic lately and alot going on,  just like all of us.  So I have ignored my blogging which is exactly what I did not want to do in 2008.  If I can write grocery list I should be able to blog at least every day that I play.  Like Punky said the good the bad and the inbetween.  To look back after time is so helpful for me and wow is it great when you can plainly see how far you’ve come from there in whatever amount of time. 

It was another Horse tourney for me yesterday on PS about 140 entrants $10 + 1.  I do really like playing Horse the variety of games keeps me up and focused.  I accrued chips pretty well in the first hour and was well  on my way and had built a stack that saved me when I fell card dead during the latter part of the tournament where the blinds and antes are way up there.  I was also able to bluff a little and steal a little which can be difficult in a limit game and then the short stacks ran a little lucky on me when I got them all in and they hit on draws but thats poker and I have been there.  So I ended up going out 10th making $30.00 and missing the final table by two and I had a great time, so there ya go.  I look forward to seeing all you lady poker sharks at many final tables in the future.

it’s HORSE today

It was a HORSE tournament that was calling my name or so it seemed.  I registered 308 entries a $10 + 1 seemed like a good field and I really enjoy playing HORSE.  I got off to a good start as I did percieve there were some novices playing that did not have a good handel on some of the games and lost alot of chips on hands that never came to fruition.  I was the recipient of quite a few of those chips and it put me in a good position going into play after the first hour.  It was a tournament that I did give my full attention to and as the blinds and antes climbed I was able to play and still accrue chips.  The middle is where I fell kind of card dead with starting hands that were atrocious but I was able to manuever around that and capture a pot when I needed to.  I did get to the final table I was the short stack and was able to take fifth for $140.00.  A win of fifth place is good in my book I aimed to get to the final table and did.
